Why I Stopped Trading Forex

Back in December of 2016, I met these two guys playing basketball who exposed the world of Forex trading to me for the first time. I had no idea what the hell Forex was. All I knew is that these guys showed dollar figures on their phones, in pretty blue font, that kept going up and up and up. My naive, "get rick quick" mindset was screaming. I had to figure out how to get this to work for myself.

One guy in particular was making $3,000 a day it seemed - all on his phone. Within 30 minutes, I gave this guy $200 of my own money to start trading for me. I never saw that money again, but I don't regret making that move. Within a week I was hanging out with these guys on a regular basis and practicing on a demo Forex account. Within a month I invested $500 into a Live Account and was trading for real.

For those unaware, Forex is analogous to stocks, but instead of investing in companies, you invest in currencies of countries. For example, if you go to Japan, you exchange your US dollars for Japanese Yen. The day you arrive, the exchange rate is say 1 USD for 1000 Yen. When you leave, 2 weeks later, the exchange rate is 2 USD for 1000 Yen. If you didn't spend any Yen, and converted it back to USD, you would have doubled the amount of money you initially converted. That's essentially how people trade and make money (and lose money) on the forex market.

Long story short, I spent about half a year or so dabbling in the Forex market. I lost a total of at least $700, maybe even $1000, trying to learn and ultimately quit the Forex game. It was all worth it, and I truly believe Forex is one of the best money making opportunities out there if a person is willing to learn, fail, and success, and has a REAL passion for trading.

Without Passion It Just Wasn't Worth The Time

I quit trading forex for two reasons: (1) I am not passionate about it, and (2) I don't have time to learn and become successful at it.

(1) No Passion: The reality is that I was in it to make quick, easy money. The truth is that a person can literally make $100 in one second in the Forex market. Hell, they can make $1,000,000 in one second if their trade size is big enough. On the flip side, a person can also lose $100 - $1,000,000 in one second as well.

More over, I simply didn't have the passion for reading charts and all that shit. All I wanted was quick money and the opportunity to shove it in people's face on social media. "Look at me, I'm so smart and cool, I trade on forex and make millions and you have a measly job. Haha, I'm so cool and rich." LMAO I was a complete poser. I literally walked away from the game down $1000 at least. Never making a real penny.

(2) No Time: Without passion, there's definitely no way I'm spending time to learn how to be successful. Forex is a very dry game. It's just about reading charts, analyzing the past and trying to predict a future based on the past, and then make money. There's no helping other people. Obviously if you coach someone, that's great, but forex alone is a money making endeavor. It's fine, it's awesome actually, but as a career and life mission? Not for me.

My Forex Future & My Advice For Newbies

I could see myself getting both into stocks and forex in the future, but ultimately hiring someone to do it for me. I don't care about learning to read charts and becoming a super analyst. All I'd care about, when I do get into it, is what do I need to do to make money when I invest it.  So yeah. I'm done with forex as a career choice. It was fun while it lasted.

If you're interested in trying the forex game, I suggest you just go for it. Read, learn, and try a demo account out. Shoot, I'd even try a real account to get the real flavor of what trading is like. Just invest $100 or so. What you'll find is that your fears and doubts about money, failure and success all come to the surface. That's probably what I loved most about my forex experience - the psychological, emotional, and spiritual lessons I discovered about myself.

ANYWAYS. That's my forex experience in a nutshell.

Happy trading to my traders!

Peace,
